Effluent discharged from industrial operations can contain high levels of fluoride which can be effectively treated by calcium chloride. Prior to discharge into public water systems, calcium chloride is used to remove the fluoride. Other applications for calcium chloride include its use to increase the water hardness in pools and other concrete containment which reduces deterioration of the concrete.
