Calcium plays a significant role in the vegetative and fruiting habits of a large variety of crops. Soluble calcium as found in liquid calcium chloride can affect plant growth by making certain nutrients more available to the plant. Research has shown that applying soluble calcium with certain forms of ammonium nitrogen can improve crop production by increasing the size of sellable plant parts. It also makes the use of nitrogen more efficient which improves the economics of the grower's input costs.
